This is the question that Australian pastor and blogger Darryl Erb asked. I was honored (or honoured?!) to join som
e friends and experts I greatly respect in submitting an answer, which is now part of a multi-part series on Darryl's blog.
I had the chance to be in Australia for a ridiculously short time in 2017 (five days total, hitting Melbourne, Geelong, and the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, with a literal run to the Opera House for one picture on the way to the airport!) There's some really cool fruit happening, in churches and networks working together well, and in seeds of the gospel taking root across the continent.
